The Crime Prevention Alliance of Florida and United HomeCare organized a luncheon at Las Vegas Restaurant in Downtown Doral, hosted by CPAF president Barbara Sanchez, who has recruited volunteers to work for the creation of a special monument in honor of Miami’s senior citizens.
Ms. Sanchez introduced the project's artist, sculptor Julio Cesar Hernandez, and announced that the monument will be erected at the Danny Meehan Park in Medley, Florida. She also announced that the public can purchase brick plaques in honor of their senior

family members to be placed on the memorial.
Representatives from South Florida's law enforcement divisions were recognized by Ms. Sanchez, herself a former LEO with the Miami Beach Police Department. The officers, specialists in combatting crime against seniors, work with CPAF to raise awareness and address the growing threat to that segment of our population. United HomeCare president/CEO Carlos Martinez and members of the UHC Board of Directors and team were present at the event.

Testimonial:

Rebeca, I just wanted to say thank you to both you & Arquimides for keeping us informed on what’s going on in areas of common interest.

. . . thank you for sharing that the luncheon was a success. I was certainly hoping it would be. Also, thank you for mentioning the fact they renamed Loren’s Lifetime Achievement. I’m sorry I missed seeing Noris.

Thanks again, and my best wishes for the both of you.

Lourdes Beltran.

Congratulations to our partners at Latin Builders Association for launching the year-long celebration of the organization’s 50th Anniversary during the first monthly luncheon of 2021. The sold-out event featured many of LBA’s past-presidents, former directors and members who filled the sumptuous ballroom at Coral Gables’ famous landmark, the Biltmore Hotel and Resort.

Attendees were welcomed to the luncheon by LBA’s president-elect Gus Cabrera, who served as emcee. The afternoon’s speakers included José M. González, SVP/Corporate Development of Florida East Coast Industries (luncheon sponsors), Gus Gil, CEO of Gil Development and LBA past president, and Erick Valderrama, current president.
The association also took the opportunity to rename its annual Lifetime Achievement award in honor of Lorenzo Luaces, a founding member and the only past-president to serve two terms. Mr. Luaces passed away in 2019. His wife Noris and two sons, Enrique and Lorenzo, Jr., were warmly greeted by the crowd as they received this year’s award.

Members, business leaders and public officials then listened to the Honorable Jose “Pepe” Diaz, county commissioner for District 12 and incoming chairman of the Miami-Dade County Commission.

After the luncheon the group moved to the famous Biltmore Cellar Club where they had an additional opportunity to network.
